Children's Day

 

Children's Day is celebrated across India to increase awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children. It is celebrated on 14 November every year on the birthday the First Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Known as 'Chacha Nehru'.

NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY

 

National Education Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He was a key educationist who played an important role in developing the education system in independent India.

Ministry of Human Resource Development on September 11, 2008, decided to mark the birth anniversary of Maulana Azad by celebrating National Education Day on November 11, every year. Azad during his tenure in the Education Ministry promoted research in eastern learning and literature and set up the three academies to develop the fine arts. He also started the work on the compilation of technical terms in Hindi on a large scale.

Some of the important boards/commissions set up by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad during his tenure are:

1. University Grants commission

2. All India Council for Technical education

3. Kharagpur Institute of higher education

4. The University education commission

5. The Secondary education commission

The first education minister of Independent India, Maulana Abul Kalam also contributed to the establishment of educational institutes like Jamia Millia Islamia and IIT Kharagpur. He strongly advocated education for women and free and compulsory primary education for children up to the age of 14. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad passed away on February 22, 1958.

 WORLD STUDENT DAY

The day 15th October marks the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the one who gave uttermost importance to students and encouraged them at every event. He had several brilliant advice for students like "The two most important life goals I would like every youth to have: 1. increase the amount of time that you have at your disposal; 2. increase what you can achieve in the time available."

Also, the United Nations Organization (UNO) in 2010 declared this day as World Students’ Day to honour Dr. Kalam efforts on promoting education. India fondly remembers Dr. Kalam as Missle Man, an educationalist, the person behind the success of the Indian aerospace science programme.

This year, the auspicious day will be celebrated with the theme "Learning for People, Planet, Prosperity, and Peace". It reaffirms the role of education as a fundamental right for the public good. It also enables the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Dr. Kalam was the 11th president of India and he was one of the most loved presidents of the nation. He served the nation from the year 2002 to 2007. 

Dr. Kalam passed away while delivering a lecture to the students at IIM Shilong on July 27, 2015 following a massive cardiac arrest.

 National Librarian's Day 

12 August 1892 – 27 September 1972

Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan was a librarian and mathematician from India. His most notable contributions to the field were his five laws of library science and the development of the first major faceted classification system, the colon classification. He is considered to be the father of library science, documentation, and information science in India and is widely known throughout the rest of the world for his fundamental thinking in the field. His birthday is observed every year as the National Librarian Day in India

Mathematician and librarian par-excellence, Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan or S.R. Ranganathan passed away on this day, September 27, in the year 1972.

मुंशी प्रेमचंद जी की 141वीं जयंती समारोह

जीवन परिचय

'मुंशी प्रेमचंद' का जन्म 31 जुलाई, 1880 को उत्तर प्रदेश के वाराणसी के निकट लमही नामक ग्राम में हुआ था। उनका वास्तविक नाम ‘धनपत राय’ था। प्रेमचंद उनका साहित्यिक नाम था और बहुत वर्षों बाद उन्होंने यह नाम अपनाया था। उनके पिता, मुंशी अजायब लाल, डाकमुंशी थे। उनकी माता आनन्दी देवी सुन्दर, सुशील और घरेलू महिला थीं।

प्रेमचंद का बचपन आर्थिक तंगी में गुजरा। गरीबी से लड़ते हुए उन्होंने जीवन की प्रतिकूल परिस्थितियों में मैट्रिक पास किया। एक स्थानीय विद्यालय में अध्यापक के पद पर नौकरी के साथ साथ उन्होंने अपनी पढ़ाई जारी रखी और इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से अंग्रेजी साहित्य, पर्सियन और इतिहास विषयों से स्नातक की उपाधि द्वितीय श्रेणी में प्राप्त की। 8 अक्टूबर, 1936 को उनका देहावसान हुआ।

प्रेमचंद बहुमुखी प्रतिभा संपन्न साहित्यकार थे। प्रेमचंद की रचनाओं में तत्कालीन इतिहास बोलता है। उन्होंने अपनी रचनाओं में जन साधारण की भावनाओं, परिस्थितियों और उनकी समस्याओं का मार्मिक चित्रण किया। उनकी कृतियां भारत के सर्वाधिक विशाल और विस्तृत वर्ग की कृतियां हैं। वे भारतीय जीवन के जीवंत क़लमकार के रूप में हुए हैं।

प्रेमचंद ने उपन्यास, कहानी, नाटक, समीक्षा, लेख, सम्पादकीय, संस्मरण आदि अनेक विधाओं में साहित्य की सृष्टि की, किन्तु प्रमुख रूप से वह कथाकार हैं। उन्हें अपने जीवन काल में ही 'उपन्यास सम्राट' की पदवी मिल गई थी। 'पंच परमेश्वर', 'बड़े भाई साहब', 'नमक का दारोगा', 'कफ़न', 'परीक्षा', 'शतरंज के खिलाड़ी', 'मंत्र', 'पूस की रात' आदि प्रेमचंद की उन 300 कहानियों में से प्रसिद्ध कहानियाँ हैं जो उन्होंने लगभग 24 संग्रहों में प्रकाशित की हैं। कहानियों के अलावा प्रेमचंद ने 'निर्मला', 'प्रेमाश्रम', 'कर्मभूमि', 'गबन', 'सेवासदन', 'रंगभूमि', 'गोदान' आदि उपन्यास भी लिखे। 

 

प्रेमचंद एक सफल लेखक, देशभक्त नागरिक, कुशल वक्ता, जिम्मेदार संपादक और संवेदनशील रचनाकार थे। बीसवीं शताब्दी के पूर्वार्द्ध में जब हिन्दी में काम करने की तकनीकी सुविधाएं नहीं थीं फिर भी इतना काम करने वाला लेखक उनके सिवा कोई दूसरा नहीं हुआ। प्रेमचंद के साहित्य पर इस देश में और बाहर भी शोध कार्य हुए हैं। इसलिए न केवल हिंदी साहित्य में बल्कि विश्व साहित्य में प्रेमचंद का विशेष स्थान है। महान साहित्यकार व आधुनिक हिंदी के पितामह के रूप में मुंशी प्रेमचंद को सदैव याद किया जायेगा।

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY

 

 INTERNATIONAL TIGAR DAY

International Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29 to raise awareness about the conservation of the wild cat, which over the last 150 years has witnessed a massive drop of nearly 95% in its population. However, with several countries taking measures to curb poaching, illegal wildlife trade, human-wildlife conflict, and habitat loss, etc, the tiger population has shown some growth. Not just that, cutting of trees also contributes significantly to habitat loss, thereby leading to the reduction in the number of tigers. 

History of International Tiger Day:

On July 29, 2010, a number of countries became signatories to an agreement at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia. The countries pledged to raise awareness about the dramatic fall in the number of tigers and the steps required to preserve the species from going extinct. Not just that, various tiger-populated countries also vowed that they would try to double the population of the animal by 2022. 

Theme of International Tiger Day, 2021

The theme for the 2021 International Tiger Day is “Their survival is in our hands”. Last year, the day was observed online due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, but there was no lack of enthusiasm. People across the world understood the significance of the day and contributed to celebrations in their own ways. Interestingly, India accounts for nearly 70% of the world's total tiger population and has already achieved the target of doubling its numbers.
